What Is This Test?

A blood test that measures IgG antibodies against Coxiella burnetii.

Why this test is performed?

Helps diagnose Q fever, an infection from farm animals. IgG antibodies develop later and last longer, so a positive IgG usually indicates past infection or immunity (from infection or vaccination).

Who should take this test?

Fever lasting more than 2–3 days, chills, body ache, rash, headache or vomiting — especially in monsoon season.

Test Preparation

No fasting needed.
