What Is This Test?

Checks for the HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 genes linked to coeliac disease.

Why this test is performed?

Nearly everyone with coeliac disease carries DQ2 or DQ8, so a negative result practically rules out coeliac disease; a positive result alone does not confirm it.

Who should take this test?

Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, bloating, indigestion or suspected digestive disease.

Test Preparation

No fasting needed.
