What Is This Test?

A group of blood tests — bilirubin, liver enzymes (SGOT/AST, SGPT/ALT, ALP, GGT) and proteins (total protein, albumin, globulin, A/G ratio) — that show how well your liver is working and whether it is inflamed or damaged. This extended panel includes additional ratios for a fuller picture.

Why this test is performed?

Helps detect and monitor hepatitis, fatty liver, alcohol-related liver disease, jaundice, gallbladder and bile duct problems and side-effects of medicines. It is part of most routine health check-ups.

Who should take this test?

Jaundice, nausea, abdominal pain or swelling, alcohol use, fatty liver, hepatitis risk, or people on long-term medicines.
