What Is This Test?

Measures potassium in urine collected over 24 hours. Potassium is critical for heart rhythm and muscles.

Why this test is performed?

Helps find the cause of low or high blood potassium, such as kidney or hormonal problems. A 24-hour collection gives a more accurate picture of the total amount passed in a day than a single sample.

Who should take this test?

Vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, weakness, people on BP medicines or diuretics, kidney or heart conditions.

Test Preparation

No fasting needed. Collect all urine for 24 hours in the container provided (discard the first morning urine on day 1, include it on day 2).
