What Is This Test?

A blood test that measures IgM & IgG antibodies against TORCH organisms.

Why this test is performed?

Helps diagnose TORCH infections (Toxoplasma, Rubella, CMV, Herpes) that can affect pregnancy and the baby. IgM antibodies appear early, so a positive IgM usually suggests a recent or current infection. IgG antibodies develop later and last longer, so a positive IgG usually indicates past infection or immunity (from infection or vaccination).

Who should take this test?

Women planning pregnancy or who are pregnant, as advised by the gynaecologist.

Test Preparation

No fasting needed.
