What Is This Test?
Measures total protein, albumin and globulin in the blood and calculates the albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio.
Why this test is performed?
Gives an overview of nutrition, liver and kidney function, and immune activity. An abnormal A/G ratio can point to liver disease, kidney protein loss, chronic inflammation or myeloma.
Who should take this test?
Jaundice, nausea, abdominal pain or swelling, alcohol use, fatty liver, hepatitis risk, or people on long-term medicines.
