A blood test that measures IgM antibodies against Brucella bacteria.
Helps diagnose brucellosis, an infection from unpasteurised milk or contact with farm animals. IgM antibodies appear early, so a positive IgM usually suggests a recent or current infection.
Fever lasting more than 2–3 days, chills, body ache, rash, headache or vomiting — especially in monsoon season.
No fasting needed.

Antibodies take some days to weeks to appear after infection, so your doctor may time or repeat the test based on when symptoms began.
No fasting is needed. You can eat and drink normally unless your doctor has advised otherwise.
Blood sample taken from a vein in your arm.
Usually within 3–4 days after the sample reaches the lab. You will receive the report online.
