A blood test that measures the avidity (binding strength) of IgG antibodies against rubella virus.
Helps diagnose rubella (German measles), which can cause birth defects if caught in pregnancy. Low avidity suggests the infection happened in the last few months, while high avidity suggests an older infection — very important in pregnancy to time the infection.
Women planning pregnancy or who are pregnant, as advised by the gynaecologist.
No fasting needed.
