Atorlip 40 Tablet

Atorlip 40 Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Atorlip 40 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Most side effects do not need medical attention and go away as your body adjusts. Talk to your doctor if they bother you or do not go away.

Alcohol Ask your doctor

Taking Atorvastatin with alcohol may increase the risk of liver damage.

Pregnancy Unsafe

Atorlip 40 Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Probably safe

Atorlip 40 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Driving Ask your doctor

Atorlip 40 Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Kidney Caution

Atorlip 40 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Atorlip 40 Tablet is recommended. However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.

Liver Caution

Atorlip 40 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Atorlip 40 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Atorlip 40 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
