Glucobay 50 Tablet

Glucobay 50 Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It inhibits an enzyme that helps in conversion of carbohydrates to glucose. This slows down carbohydrate digestion/absorption thereby preventing increase in blood glucose after meals.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glucobay 50 Tablet is to be taken with food.

Most side effects do not need medical attention and go away as your body adjusts. Talk to your doctor if they bother you or do not go away.

Alcohol Ask your doctor

Taking acarbose with alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.

Pregnancy Probably safe

Glucobay 50 Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Probably safe

Glucobay 50 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Driving Ask your doctor

Glucobay 50 Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Kidney Caution

Glucobay 50 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glucobay 50 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Glucobay 50 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Liver Caution

Glucobay 50 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glucobay 50 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Glucobay 50 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
